Modern Web Is Junk

The Modern Web Is a Mess

I was just looking up a carpet the other day on my friend’s laptop—and wow, what a disaster. The site took like 3 full seconds to load, and I had to close a bunch of pop-ups, cookie banners, and those annoying “subscribe to our newsletter” boxes just to even see the page. The actual useful content? Could’ve loaded in under 20KB and half a second, honestly. And every page under the “suggested” section looked exactly the same. Like, who are we building these sites for?

Modern Web UI/UX… Really?

I’ve got mad respect for the UI/UX folks—I know they work hard to make websites feel smooth and easy to use. But man, what’s the point of all that effort if everything’s buried under a cookie notice, a full-screen ad, and five random “click to continue” buttons? It’s like hiding your living room behind a wall of junk and then asking guests to admire your furniture.

Ads Aren’t Even Ads Anymore

Let’s be real—ads used to just be ads. Now they’re these creepy reflections of your brain. They know what you’re thinking before you do. Thanks, cookies and trackers. I get that site owners want to make money off ads—fair. But when a site has 200 different ads crammed from header to footer, and your actual content is just this tiny little dot in the middle… come on. That’s not a website anymore, it’s a billboard graveyard.

How My Views Changed

I used to think all this web bloating was just part of progress. But now? I’m just tired. I don’t want a cinematic experience when I’m trying to buy a doormat. I want fast, clean, and usable. Give me that internet back.
